Tripurasundari: She who is beautiful in the three worlds


Bija Mantra


om sa ka la hrim tripursundaryai namah

Om all causes of manifested existance are Maya, we bow to the beautiful one of the three cities

Gayatri Mantra


om tripurasundaryai vidmahe

Klim kamesvaryai dhimahi I

Saustannah klinna pracodayat II


Om we mediate upon she who is beauty of all the three, the cause of manifested existance merging into perfection in the casual body, contemplate She who is the supreme Goddess of all desires. May that Goddess who manifests the perfection of compassion in Nature grant us increase.


Iconography


She shines with the light of the rising sun. In her four hands she holds a noose, a goad, arrows and a bow. Sakta-pramoda


She is said to be seated on a throne, adorning her forehead is the crescent moon. Often depicted seated on a lotus that rests on the body of Siva, which is on a throne whose legs are the gods Brahma, Vishnu, Siva and Rudra. Lalita-Sahasranama
