A Letter of Gratitude

A letter of gratitude to our community of family and friends, who have supported us and helped us grow through the uncertainty of 2020. This blog post is a short reflection on the year gone by, and an update on what we’re looking forward to in 2021.

Our updated website:

We would like to start by thanking Noel, who helped us put together our website, so that we could showcase our work and projects in new and exciting ways. One of the things we’re especially excited about is that the website allows for virtual visits to the studio – bringing you personal shopping experiences no matter where you are in the world

Ektaa: our blog

We would also like to thank Tali, who put together Ektaa – a platform to share and exchange stories and dialogues. We are also incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed their time, and their stories. We’ve been lucky to feature our community’s family histories and personal journeys, as well as dive into art history, sustainable living, and creativity.

New collections:

We brought out several new collections in the past year – The sthir collection, which embodied our slow-fashion ethos, brought together new and self-taught skills in eco-dyeing. The limited collection consists of one-of-a-kind pieces. We also launched our Kashmir collection sarees in Tussar Silk, and launched a limited series of shawls, inspired by Kashmiri poet and mystic – Lal Ded (1320 -1392). Lal Ded (Lalleshwari) was the creator of a style of poetry called 'vatsun' or 'vakhs' (from the Sanskrit vaak, meaning speech).

In the new year we’re working to put together more collections that can be enjoyed by you and shared with loved ones for gifting. The ‘tohfa’ collection that emphasizes gratitude pairs some of our favourite items for him and her.

Gratitude

We’d like to reiterate our gratitude – to everyone who has supported us and continues to do so in these challenging times. Thank you for being part of the Sonya Sapru community. We are open, and we will continue to remain open (by appointment), and online, and look forward to growing and collaborating.

Newsletter:

We’re also excited to introduce our monthly newsletter to you, which we’ve just launched this week. It will include blog updates, new collections and discounts. You can sign up at the bottom of the page here for regular updates from the Sonya Sapru Designs family.

With Love,
