The Samarkand Kaftan
A kimono-style kaftan in pure habutai silk — lightweight, fluid, and exceptionally easy to wear. The print is suzani-inspired: bold medallions, flowering vines, and dense botanical geometry in deep red, teal, and black on an ivory ground. Drawn from the embroidery traditions of Central Asia, redrawn by hand and digitally printed onto silk in the atelier. Habutai is one of the most quietly luxurious of the silk weaves, smooth, weightless, and with a subtle natural sheen that makes colour land differently than on any other cloth.
Wear it:
As a dress on its own, or over wide trousers or palazzo pants for a more layered, resort feel. The length and volume make it equally suited to an evening out or a long afternoon.
A note on the print:
The suzani is one of the great textile traditions of the Silk Route, large ceremonial textiles made across Central Asia, dense with symbolism and botanical pattern. This print takes that visual language and brings it into contemporary silk. Each motif is redrawn from archival reference and digitally printed in the atelier.
